Amazing experience! I just completed Imrpov 1, the introductory class to improv. It was 9 weeks of laughter and playing as if we were 10 year olds! Our teacher Richard was amazing! He is clearly an expert in this field. His energy, humour, positive attitude and constructive feedbacks created a very safe environment for beginners to express ourselves past our comfort zone. I learnt a lot in the first 9 weeks and looking to continue. Thank you Richard, Louise and fellow improvisers😄

I recently attended the 4 week improv 101 class. During the classes, Richard’s passion for the art exuded authentically in the course he taught and it was contagious. He was able to create a psychologically safe space for you to clear your mind and be silly without fear of judgment. What stood out for me most was the neuroscience concepts underlying every exercise we undertook and the time he took in explaining it. I can’t recommend this intro class enough for anyone who’s looking to get more comfortable in their skin, be more present in everyday situations, learn to be more playful and become more confident in spontaneity. Looking forward to keep progressing through the other improv classes on offer at the Academy.

The Beginner improv class was beyond valuable, fun and engaging. The environment is very welcoming and relaxed. I was concerned that the class would require a level of skill or a certain personality but it is truly fit for anyone and everyone. Our class was a mix of students, corporates, parents and everyone else in between. If you are brave enough to consider the class, you are definitely the correct person to sign up and attend. I am very grateful for the joy and laughs the class has brought to me every week.

Joining Academy of Improvisation was the best decision I have made. I initially joined to build confidence in speaking and presenting to large groups - little did I know I've been learning so much more than that. It has now been over a year and a half since I started improv on Thursday evenings and it's the best part of the week! I've met amazing friends, I feel safe to express myself, and it's so much fun. I had three different teachers across the different classes and they've all been so supportive, creating a safe space for everyone, and I'm learning a lot about the theory behind improv as well ... who knew there was structure to improvising! I really recommend giving improv a go, and Academy of Improvisation is a great school.
