Having recently moved from Brisbane, it was quite nerve-wracking to find a new dance school, especially since our daughter had been with her previous studio from a young age. As a mum who has never went to dance school and only dances on some sticky dance floors in nightclubs back in the day , I was apprehensive about enrolling my children in a dance school. I had all the typical fears associated with being and associating with 'dance moms', but I can say that my experience at All Star Dance has transformed my perspective. The teachers are warm and respectful teachers who care about each student (so many of them that I don’t know their names but my kids can spot them from a mile away and the teachers know their names too). Their nurturing approach creates a positive environment where kids can flourish. I did learn the hard way during my first year that attendance is crucial in Term 4 leading up to the end-of-year concert (only if you choose to participate). But that was a valuable lesson, and it’s one of the reasons why we have continued at the school for the past few years. Also that my daughter has formed some strong bonds with other children in her classes . My second child recently started attending classes, and it’s been amazing to see them thrive. They are not only learning new techniques but also having a blast while doing it! The end-of-year productions are nothing short of magnificent – a true testament to the hard work and dedication of both the students and the teachers over the year . One aspect I truly appreciate is how the older kids support the younger ones in class, as it fosters a sense of community and collaboration among the dancers. It’s heartwarming to see the older students take on mentorship roles, helping to guide and inspire the younger ones. I’m looking forward to the next decade at All Star Dance and cannot recommend it highly enough for any parent considering a dance school for their child.
