Canberra Olympic Pool

I’ve been a regular for years but I’ve never seen the showers and change rooms so FILTHY. They shrug and say “What can we do, it’s school carnivals”. Well why not charge the schools a $1000 refundable deposit contingent on the change rooms being left in a reasonable state, rather than loyal patrons having to shower in other people’s mess?

Such a great pool for laps or play over the summer. Disorganised admin makes it difficult to be a member though. The kids swim lessons are cancelled at the last minute most weeks.

Four people at reception talking instead of serving customers. Fridges near empty,limited choices. Baby pool needs a repaint.Most of all the construction around town makes this parking area SO difficult to find. The life guards were doing a good job,thank you! Diving boards are great fun for all!! Shaded seating pleasant,grass needs fertilising.

Hopeless schedule system to know when different facilities are open. I tried several times over this afternoon to ring to confirm opening times for the dive pool tomorrow and nobody would pick up the phone. I then spoke to the AI bot and got nowhere. I then managed to get onto a staff member on the chat function, who said the diving pool is open tomorrow all day. I asked where I could get a copy of the schedule, as it's not on the website. They advised "check the socials". I went on a few platforms and eventually found it, only to discover the diving pool is not actually open tomorrow and a post was made four hours ago to advise as much 😤

Almost 12 months since the last birthday party here and nothing has changed, same child who picked to have a birthday here over the other pools because of the diving space. Family called and made sure nothing was on for the Saturday they were booking well in advance. To arrive and one hour in the scuba team was back. Four kids parties pushed into the lap pool to accomodate ONE diver. We had to ask staff to open an additional lane for the kids to play rather than just yell at the kids for using the pool. The facilities are dated, dirty, and for the eight staff you had on they all stand together and talk rather than actively watch. Glad we were only attending as guests because I would never take my child here otherwise. Some compensation was offered to my friend but save your money and go to cleaner pools, with proper booking and hygienic facilities. I’ve added a review left last time we were guests to see that no attempt at improvements have been made. Just close and rely on that scuba team to foot your bills since the general public are not considered.
