Chinese Kung Fu Academy

This is very good Kung Fu. Henry Sue is a 10th degree Grand master. He is 82 years old and really incredible. It is a hard art to learn, however well worth it.

Absolutely amazing place to train, learn martial arts and build your character. I’ve been involved in CKFA for over 10 years and I can’t recommend it more highly. Friendly, welcoming and professional and the attention to detail is second to none. Love the community and people and everything about the art of Kung Fu and Tai Qi!

Fantastic academy! The outstanding culture and mutual respect between instructors and students provides a great foundation for the school. I am a recently joined student, and the academy has been very welcoming. With the combined experience of four on-site Masters and plenty of highly trained and capable instructors, I have been steadily learning the intricacy and beauty of this art. If you are serious about learning Kung Fu, or some form of Martial Arts, drop in and give the Beginner Package a try, I couldn't recommend this academy more highly.

I've found this school to be the real deal. The instruction is accurate and the focus is on teaching normal people the skills and reality of fighting. The instructors encourage values of respect, leadership, confidence etc.They don't give away belts so if you're prepared to work hard you'll get some solid training you can rely on when it matters. 5 stars.

I rang up and enquired about Tai Chi, was invited along for a one session trial. Great. Showed up on Saturday morning and instead of doing the class, you have to fill in paperwork. That frustrated me as the lady on the phone that rang me and "prepared" me for my trial. She failed. No mention of come a few minutes in advvance and fill out this paperwork, or "can we send this paperwork to your email address in advance so you can fill it out?" that would have been a yes from me. Instead I showed up 5min early and was given a 4 page handout and told to fill it out. The class starts, so I go take the paperwork and ask, can I attend the class and finish this afterwards, OK was the asnwer. Walk into the class, looks like a bunch of experts in their Tai Chi Gees. The instructor is on stage, giving instructions, only you cannot hear them. So in the third row, can't hear, gaining zero context, no idea what to do. None of the other class participants say, oh hi noob, come take a spot in the front and let us know if you need some help. No acknowledgment from anyone that I might need help. So gave it 5 minutes. I felt there was NO value in this class. I could have stayed home and listened to Youtube for free and at least had a chance at learning somethign new, instead I was treated like I was going to the doctors office and it WAS NOT WELCOMING AT ALL, seems there is ZERO sense of community at the Chinese community centre. Not one person sail welcome, I was not invited to be there, so many things from past martial arts training, just a big void of things you expect. People just stare at you. So, i went back to the desk and let the lady know that I can't hear anything, have no idea what I am doing and feel like maybe I should give up and she says, OK. So I left. I would not reccomend to try anything there, as you are on your own. I would not find any class attendence (at any centre in the world) where they do not focus on teaching as worth attendence and this one was deffo in that category. This felt like a total failure and when I let the lady know they seem to fine with having a gues there that can't hear, is admittedly confused and has no idea what to do. The only thing I learned today is how incosiderate this mob is about learning and community. Maybe instead of telling me your life story below, you just ring me on my mobile and have a chat with me. Seems like you are very focused on how you look versus what you do about it.
