Coaching staff are excellent here and really take an interest in developing your child. Our girls were in a different academy and learnt nothing for a full year. After 6 months at college park our girls are smashing it, obsessed with gymnastics and love the culture. A great gym if you want your child to learn, build confidence and consistently improve.
I have been experiencing discrimination from the Manager of College Park Gymnastics Academy, Pamela Pryce. During my daughter’s first week, I sat upstairs and saw other parents recording and taking photos of their kids. Another parent downstairs also recorded videos and took photos of her kids. The second week, I sat downstairs because I had my 7-month-old baby with me. I started recording videos and taking photos of my daughter, just as other parents did. Pamela approached me and said I wasn't allowed to record videos or take photos because other kids might be in them. I told her I was only focusing on my daughter to send the videos to her dad. Before I could finish, she cut me off, saying it wasn't allowed, and walked away. Her tone was very unprofessional, though low enough that others nearby wouldn’t hear. For the next few weeks, I sat at the bottom with another mother who also had a baby. Our kids played in the lobby as other students came in, often interacting with our babies. I usually brought snacks, toys, and a water bottle for my daughter, and the other mom did the same for her son, who had a little soccer ball. Today, while cleaning up some snack crumbs my baby dropped on the floor, Pamela passed by the other mom, who was in the middle of the lobby with her son, their bag, drink bottle, and toys. Pamela approached me, telling me to move and take my baby's things because it would get busy with students. I explained that I was already picking up the crumbs, but she dropped my daughter's toys next to me and walked away before I could respond. The other mom saw this and began removing her things, even though Pamela hadn't approached her. After I moved, another mother sat in the same spot where Pamela had told me to leave. I’ve seen other parents sit there multiple times while I played with my daughter and have never seen Pamela confront them for the same actions. If there are cameras, please review them to see how many parents have taken photos/videos of their kids, sat in that spot, and had their kids in the lobby with toys and snacks while Pamela only confronted me. What Pamela did is discrimination. I deserve to be treated with the same respect as other parents. Just because she is the owner and manager does not give her the right to be rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional toward me. The only reason my daughter remains in this program is because she loves it and it is the closest option for us. Pamela has been addressing me based on stereotypes, and she knows it. I'm reposting this for my sister because they blocked her from saying exactly what the Manager did!
it seems that Pamela selectively enforces rules. While she insists that I cannot record or take photos, other parents are allowed to do so without any issue. This inconsistency is frustrating and makes me feel singled out and discriminated against. Today was particularly disheartening. As I was cleaning up after my baby, who had dropped some snack crumbs, Pamela approached me to move and take my baby's things because the area would get busy with students. Meanwhile, another mother with a baby, who had her items spread out in the middle of the lobby, was not asked to move at all. It feels like I'm being targeted unfairly, and it's becoming increasingly uncomfortable to be there. I am deeply disappointed with this treatment and am considering looking for another gym where all parents and children are treated equally and with respect. im posting this for my sister because they blocked her from saying exactly what the Manager did
I had booked a Sat trial class for my daughter by phone last Wednesday. Please note it can not book a trial class over their website and the website will ask you to pay full term fees if you enroll it directly. Anyway I booked a class finally through the mobile number and they asked that you have to pay for the trial class. this is not the same rule compared to other classes, such as my kid's dancing and martial art classes which usually would provide one or two free class for new student or will charge you after you decide to enroll the whole term after the trial class. The most interesting part was that when I took my daughter to the class on last Sat and found there was no reception at all. so I stood there near the gate, wait for the class starting as I got there several minutes earlier. some stuff were teaching class and they all saw me as it was very obvious that my daughter and I were standing there near the gate. nobody came to me and say something like "what can I do for you?". so I stop a young lady who wore stuff clothes when she went pass me that what should I do as I have booked a trial class. she just said wait here and somebody will take me to the class when it ready. Then about 2 minutes later, a gentle man who should have heard my previous chat (there were 2 adults near the gate that time, this man and me ), remind me that my daughter's class already started upstairs as just another stuff brought all students upstairs but she totally ignore me, without speaking any word, telling me that this is which class. then I took my daughter upstairs in a rush and found the class was starting and I hurry my daughter to the class but my daughter scared due to strange environment, so I stand near the gate of upstairs , trying to persuade her to the class but she keep standing still. we standing there for at least 5 minutes, nobody come to help my daughter to settle down first class. 10 minutes later, we went home directly. I paid $21 for a class, but my daughter never stepped on the class floor. added: very appreciated if you can refund my payment, thanks
Had really high hopes for this place after hearing how good the instructors were with the kids. Trying to book them in was so very painful, with bookings for certain classes only available via the online portal, and only payable via credit card. Yet other classes can only be purchased and booked via email and bank deposit. Debit cards are not accepted. Except it does take the the money out of the account. Oh, and the cust service was short, unhelpful, and from where I was standing, rude. Genuinely upset by the whole experience.
