Love attending Danceworks Adult Ballet classes. The classes are inclusive, friendly, and welcoming, and you feel supported from the moment you walk in. I’ve been attending for ~2.5 years and still look forward to every class 😊 The studio has a personable vibe where I get to dance with familiar friendly faces who share the same commitment and love for ballet. As a fellow studio owner, I wanted to share a heartfelt tribute to the place where my journey truly began. Having recently opened my own dance studio, Kalirena Pointe, dedicated exclusively to adult ballet, I look back at Danceworks as my original source of inspiration. Olivia Jenkins has been a pillar of support since the very start of my dance path. I will never forget her kindness when she came to support me at my very first stage performance of a Chinese dance play. That level of personal care is what makes Danceworks so special; Olivia’s passion for her students is unmatched. What I love most about Danceworks is that Olivia takes adult students seriously. She doesn't just teach steps; she organizes professional stage performances and dives deep into the details, even going as far as having custom costumes made for individual students to ensure we look and feel our best. We always have so much fun together, but beyond the joy, I am constantly moved by the dedication of adult dancers. There is such profound artistry within their movements that often goes unrecognized elsewhere. I want to thank Olivia and Danceworks for nurturing my mind and enriching my dance experience from the very beginning. I started adult ballet classes 2.5 years ago at Danceworks as a complete beginner with no dance experience in my mid 40s. Had tried other studios in Sydney, which were all good in their own ways. What set DW apart is the community - from the owner (Olivia) to the teachers and the students. From tiny tots, primary to grades, pre-professional and adult students. The quality of teaching is best in class, that’s because the teachers were professional Ballet dancers who worked in ballet companies all over the world. Not only did they taught us the skills they horned from years of training, but also the joy and love for the art form. They are really encouraging and stretches us just a little harder. And they take us seriously :) I loved that I have the option to take RAD lessons and do the optional RAD exams, which most schools will only run for younger students. I did my intermediate foundation exams this year, which I wouldn’t have been able to do without the patience, coaching and support from Olivia, Tonia, Maree and Amy, and all my classmates, who are a great bunch of people. The community is friendly, sociable and encouraging. Most of the adults started with basic or no experience and are supportive of each other’s journey. The year end concert - the best time of the year for me! Can’t wait to go on stage and perform again! No judgement, no pressure, go at your own speed and as far as you want to go. Just be you! Thank you Olivia and all the teachers at DW. I hope to be able to dance till my Silver Swan years :) You’ve made my dreams come true! A true gem!
