First Dance

About three weeks out from our wedding, we had a bit of a panic about our first dance and booked an emergency lesson with Jo and thank goodness we did! Jo instantly put all our nerves to rest and helped us feel calm, confident, and actually excited about dancing in front of everyone. We ended up getting so many compliments from guests about how natural and effortless our first dance looked, and it’s all thanks to Jo’s guidance. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and makes everything so easy to follow (even for someone like me with two left feet!) Couldn’t recommend a better place to help you with your first dance. Jo truly worked magic and made what started as a stressful part of wedding prep into one of our favourite memories!

We had around 5 in home first dance lessons with Jarrod, each running for about an hour and a half and the entire experience was absolutely amazing. Jarrod made every session fun, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable. Something we never expected as two people who had never really danced before. He choreographed our routine perfectly to Until I Found You, creating something that felt elegant, natural, and completely suited to us. Despite having no dance background, Jarrod taught us with so much patience and clarity that by the time our wedding night arrived, we looked like we’d had far more lessons than we actually did. Our guests were so impressed and we felt confident, connected, and fully present in the moment. We are forever grateful for Jarrod’s guidance, creativity and encouragement. He turned what could have been a stressful part of wedding prep into one of our favourite memories. We can’t recommend First Dance Studio highly enough. We reached out on very short notice, feeling a bit stressed and unsure, but from the very first interaction we felt accommodated and reassured. Our instructor Jo was amazing. She was warm, patient, and genuinely fun to work with. She made my husband and me feel completely at ease and choreographed a beautiful first-dance routine that perfectly suited our dance ability and confidence level. The lessons were clear, practical, and tailored to us as a couple, even with the tight timeframe. Thanks to Jo, what could have been a nerve-wracking experience turned into something we truly enjoyed. We felt confident, prepared, and excited for our first dance as husband and wife.

What can we say but WOW!?! Jo was absolutely fantastic, we did a mashup of Can’t Help Falling in Love / Sway / Crazy in Love and across a few lessons we had an amazing fully choreographed dance. I’m not much of a dancer, but boy did that dance turn out great (if I do say so myself). The crowd were stunned and we even had a couple of guest join us to really kill it on the dance floor! The lessons were up there with being the most fun part of the entire wedding planning and prep. We cannot recommend Jo and the entire team at First Dance Melbourne enough, we had the best time and I can guarantee you will too.

Jo was an amazing instructor :) My now husband and I were unsure if we needed lessons but I am so glad we had them. We were able to customise the dance to be a good mix of choreographed and freestyle.
