Goshukan Karate Academy - Phillip Honbu

My now 9-year-old daughter has been training karate at ACT Goshukan Karate Academy for 7-8 months, and she really enjoys it. She is regularly there twice a week, and now she even wants to add a third training session (per week). Her enthusiasm even tempts me to start training karate in my late forties. :) Sensei Ben, who runs the academy, is excellent with the young kids - extremely patient and encouraging. At the same time, he teaches kids to be disciplined, respectful, and focused. I highly recommend ACT Goshukan Karate Academy to any parents looking to get their kids into karate, but also to all others!

If you are looking for true karate lessons, Goshukan Karate Academy is the place to go, especially Ben sensei is a great instructor. I am a Japanese mom and I always wanted my sons to learn manners, discipline and respect through Karate. However, I wasn’t quite satisfied with any Karate classes until I met Ben sensei in Goshukan Karate Academy. Ben sensei has trained in Japan and he still does so he understands all these Japanese cultures and teaches them to his students through his lessons. His motto is "Persistence pays off" and he repeatedly tells everyone that consistent practice is the key to a black belt. His karate skill is amazing, his forms and kata are so beautiful and moreover he teaches his students every movement of karate with detailed explanations and I really like it. He is very passionate in teaching karate not only to adults but also to kids and my sons love Ben sensei’s karate lessons and really enjoy a lot. I highly recommend Goshukan Karate Academy if you are looking for true Karate lessons!!!

The classes are well structured, professional, and run by excellent instructors. Sensei Ben, who runs the academy, is excellent with the young kids – patient, encouraging, but also firm and disciplined. Sensi Ben is a wonderful instructor who has helped me rank up from white to orange belt this year. he encourages us and allows us to find our true limits, and the dojo is also a clean and neat space.

We had a lovely experience visiting the studio. From the moment we arrived, Ben was kind, polite, and genuinely caring, which immediately put us at ease. He took the time to thoroughly answer all our questions without making us feel rushed. The studio itself was beautiful—clean, light-filled, and incredibly inviting. It felt like a calm and positive space, and left a wonderful first impression - Highly recommend!
