Gungahlin Leisure Centre

This is a great place for swimming laps, water aerobics, water walking and other water activities. They have other classes as well and a kidies pool. Nice and clean and the staff are very friendly.

Always a enjoyable swim at the Gungahlin leisure centre, a bit quite and calm to swim weekday during winter. Heated pool is nice, the small children’s splash pool is heated but the children’s splash area is not heated (but required a button push to turn the cycle on, also equipped with an emergency stop button). New addition of two blue large picnic tables inside the pool area next to the glass wall at the entry to the pool past the cafe. Have been visiting for 4+ years and its always clean, tidy, with friendly staff at reception desk and life guards on watch.

Good value but the gym gets crowded and often there is only one machine of its type, so you have to wait - also you have to squeeze in sometimes to do floor exercises. But my major issue relates to suspension - you are only permitted to suspend for a set number of weeks, when you run out you have to cancel and re-join after your holiday if it’s a significant absence (>3 weeks). So if you suspend around holidays and Xmas, they will try to charge you full price during subsequent absences (eg annual overseas holiday) saying you’ve reached your suspension limit. You can write to them and prove you’re going away by providing an itinerary but it’s a pain, and requires you to pass on your travel details.

Staff were helpful and friendly. Pool was clean, change rooms were clean though in a fairly bad state of repair with 2 showers and one toilet out of order, another shower unable to be turned off, and most cubicles having the minimal sized shelf to put your things down, broken off. I was also very surprised given the large number of older people using the small pool for aqua etc, there was no hand rail to enter the pool. Quite unsafe.

There is no phone number to talk about the on-going swiming lessons. Like Rescheduling, pausing, sick, etc. The phone number is only for sales. I have contacted someone for rescheduling kids lessons via the phone and they said they will pass the details to someone and i will get a call. No one called. Sent an email, no one responded, its been a week now , waiting for the email response. People at the counter dont know much either. They try to charge my card but half of the payment went through only , in the next few minutes i came to know this and i made manual payment, and i was being chased for 10$ late fee... What is this.. Went to counter they dont know what was that for... really disappointed with the services.
