Reviews
Note: this review is based on the architecture and facilities alone as I did not swim here. Superb Brutalist architecture (some of Melbourne's finest) that was built to commemorate The Honourable Harold Holt, former Prime Minister of Australia, who was lost at sea. I highly suggest visiting this swim centre based on the building alone.
nah this has to be greatest meme we named a swim centre after a prime ministrer who myteriously did a scooby doo and vanished without a trace after the boys told him "nah mate your going to far you need to come back, and holts like to the boys trust me i know the ocean like the back of my hands . Standting ovation 10 stars.
It's a fabulous facility, great staff, good swimming lessons. I am so thrilled with the swim school. There teachers rapidly get your child through their levels becoming good swimmers. You get to Swim all week if you attend lessons here. It's fabulous! Parking: Be careful where you park, you are easily fined, especially in the school holidays, the parking next to the fence is a loading zone until 4pm. The parking officers will fine you, no understanding there.
Honestly its nice if you want a calm swim with not much stimulation, but overall isn't very tidy or pleasant looking, outdated and could have a bit more for the kids that are more exciting. I was also bummed when going to the Cafe and there not being any hot chips or any hot food available even the ham cheese tomatoe sandwich i got was warm and the cheese was barley even melted, I asked staff kindly to heat it more and she didn't even have to right stuff to heat a toasting up? Overall its an ok location but surprising the amount of reviews it has.
I've been a member for two years. I've put up with broken lockers infront of the change rooms for years. Theft has always been an issue but today my clothes and towel was stolen. I was left in my bathers and loaned a towel. However the attitude of the management at Harold Holt left a lot to be desired. They are extremely carefree about any crime that occurs in this centre. The manager here could be a politician in one hand he says he's extremely concerned about crime in the centre. On the other hand he said council owns the footage and it cannot be viewed till a police report is taken. There is no assurance from them that this will be resolved. Theft will continue to be rampant at this centre with the management saying it's not their responsibility attitude. As a Stonnington rate payer I believe we deserve better. I want to send this message to everyone who is concern with crime in our centre and community to say this is enough we want action and we want our society back. Boon
