Hoshindo Karate Brisbane

Hoshindo is a wonderfully warm and inclusive club that builds up students to be the best they can be. They provide a framework of self awareness, confidence, teamwork, dedication and discipline, values which carry students through their learning in self defence and in life.

I have been associated since 2005 to Rod Martin Shihan Chief Instructor of Hoshindo Karate Australia, as part of the bigger international association of Gojuryu Karate do Seiwakai/All Japan Karate Federation Gojukai, who we are both members of it give me pleasure to write this review knowing that if involved with this group your journey in Karate do will be a happy one. Rod and Malwina Shihans are committed to quality instruction from the start and have not only produced many National Champions but also great citizens, who can challenge to world with their confidence from learning Karate (empty Hand) Do (the way). My 2 school aged kids have been part of this club for a few years now. What's kept them there is not so much that they're great at karate, but that karate is great for them. The other factor is that Rod and his team of teachers are very good at what they do, striking a wonderful balance between it being fun, as well as a serious and disciplined activity at the same time. I'm a big fan of the culture of this club and highly recommend giving it a go. I'm glad we did, because it's wonderful for my kids overall development.

I started training at Hoshindo Karate with Shihan Roderick Martin, Shihan Mal, Sensei Janine & Sensei Jeff and all of the incredible other students of this Dojo in February this year. All I can say is... this is the best Dojo in Australia and you are taken in as one of the family members here. All of the instructors are super knowledgeable, caring, professional, supportive and very passionate about their teachings. There is no judgement here and the Dojo is super welcoming and you are made to feel special no matter what your grade might be. They care about your results and you will not find a School or Dojo anywhere else that teaches the practises and traditional forms of true Karate like how this place does. I strongly recommend to anyone to come and see how truly special this place is.

Fantastic, family friendly dojo. No matter what belt, everyone is made to feel welcome. Highly experienced Sensei who take pride in coaching and guiding their students through karate training. Highly recommended.
