Great facilities manned by good teachers. Reception is always available to answer calls and reschedule lessons. Enclosed pool means swimmers can be comfortable rain or shine, winter or summer.
We have attended John Carew for the last 7yrs (since the kids were babies) and have found every swim instructor amazing! Both kids have absolutely loved swimming, loved their teachers and excelled over the years. Would highly recommend this family friendly, nurturing and wonderful swim school!
The instructors are so good with kids, warm and friendly, very caring. Perfect for my shy kid, we love coming here.
Great family run swim school. The instructors are dedicated and you can tell they are happy to be there. Very nurturing for young swimmers and strive to improve each child's swimming and safety skills. Staff are friendly and make you feel party of their family. Highly recommend.
After 3 years at John Carew we have left. Pretty disappointing to see my 5 year old go from swimming confidently without gear last summer to now not being able to swim confidently without gear. I watched my friends child also be completely unsupervised during class on the other side of the pool as the teacher didn’t even notice which was one of the other deciding factors for us to leave, along with multiple changes of teachers, no consistency or milestone tracking doesn’t allow consistency when they switch teachers frequently as they don’t know their level and confuse them with gear when they haven’t worn it for months. There has been a considerable high turnover of teachers this year which doesn’t allow consistency for young children and causes confusion and confidence issues. You can’t take children’s swimming this blasé as it is an essential life saving skill. When I raised these issues with the staff there was no care or consideration for my concerns so we chose to leave as we weren’t taken seriously. I deliberated whether or not I leave a review as we did have great teachers in the baby pool, however after talking to other mums in the community with similar experiences, parents need to know all of the facts to make the right decision as swimming is something that should be managed seriously to keep children safe. I really hope that they can get the school back to how it used to be.
