Life Martial Arts has truly been an incredible experience, I started training in 2018 and not only have I learnt martial arts skills but also learnt life long skills. Life Martial Arts does not limit its teaching to skills and exercises, I found that they value creating a community of people who come to support each other at different stages in life whether you’re someone looking for self-defence or just someone looking to get out of your comfort zone and learn new things. I have found that they help to tailor each class to suit your needs and will help guide you into becoming better than you thought you could be. For anyone looking for a dojo to step into the martial arts world I would seriously recommend Life Martial Arts to provide you with life long skills, memories and a supporting community!
I trained at WAIMA (now Life Martial Arts) up until 2021, and it was a really great experience. The instructors were one of the best parts; Sempai Muddy (Madhavo), Carl, Terrance Cook, Brad, Declan Ogolive, and Justin were all brilliant (though I’m not sure if they’re still there). They were strong supportive, knowledgeable, and showed strong dedication to teaching. What stood out most was how much the academy focused on more than just martial arts. It helped build confidence, discipline, respect, and a strong mindset. I don’t train there anymore, but I still miss the place, the people, and the community. It was a big part of my childhood, and leaving definitely felt like the end of a chapter. If you’re looking to build confidence, learn discipline, and develop martial arts skills, a place like this can have a really positive impact.
I absolutely love training at Life Martial Arts. It has given me so much confidence and valuable knowledge about how to defend myself — things I never knew before. Kiyoshi Phil, Chris and Nick is an incredible teacher. I attend his workshops whenever I can because they are always powerful, practical, and truly life-changing. As a single mum, it means so much to me that both of my daughters also train here. Being part of this community has given our family not only skills and discipline, but also a real sense of safety and belonging. I feel very fortunate to be part of Life Martial Arts and highly recommend it to anyone looking to grow stronger — both physically and mentally.
From the moment we arrived at Life my son has had an absolute ball. He is amped for all his classes and is thriving in this encouraging environment. The patience and professionalism from all staff is reflected in the respect from all patrons regardless of their skill set and the all round good vibes make me feel great about choosing LIFE Joondalup to teach my son Martial Arts.
I joined Life Martial arts a couple of weeks ago without any real experience as a 46 year old looking to get fit and learn something new. I've found it to be an extremely inclusive and encouraging environment. It is challenging, but in the best of ways. I feel like I can grow within my limits at a pace that suits me, but in a way that definitely makes me strive to improve. Everyone is very encouraging, from the crew running the show, to the participants who make it feel very much like a team persuit rather than an individual endeavour. I highly recommend this to anyone 🙂 Karl.
