Melbourne Dance Centre

MDC is a fantastic dance centre. From the beginning I was impressed with their ability to get the best out of each student. They are enthusiastic, inclusive and teach a high standard of dance with an emphasis on performance. By example they encourage the dancers to be their best selves and foster a sense of friendship and belonging. My daughter has now been attending for two years and it was the best move we made. Highly recommend.

This is an amazing dance studio where the kids can thrive and learn about dance and how to perform. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or a skilled dancer -everyone will learn and grow under the directors and teachers at this school. Our daughter has danced here for 5 years and we couldn't be more pleased. If your kids love to dance - this is the place to go to!

This place is ‘okay’. Classes are big and the different ages/skill levels mean that the kids don’t get much active teaching. There are several other things I didn’t love, but the final straw for me was when my daughter was excluded from participating in class because we weren’t able to attend the end-of-year performance. Despite having paid for the lesson, she was made to sit out of class while the others practiced. I have been trying to get the studio to engage on this matter for six weeks and they either ignore my emails or call via private number and don’t leave a number to return their call. Have now gone to another studio and while it’s early days I think we’ll be much happier.

Poor management and toxic environment—look elsewhere We recently moved our daughter to another dance school after more than a year of frustration. Management is highly unprofessional and unresponsive. We were charged upfront for video recordings that were never provided, and the owners have now stopped replying to our emails regarding a resolution. Furthermore, the culture is unhealthy, marked by clear favoritism and unchecked bullying that management refused to address even when directly notified. Jess is the only wonderful, professional teacher on staff and the sole saving grace of the studio. Save your sanity and money—take your children elsewhere.

This school is a huge dissapointment to the dance industry. Over the years I took my daughter there I have witnessed bullying and outcasting by some of the students, unfair favouratism from the teachers, huge classes, messy choreograghy, huge turn over of staff, leading to inconsistant teaching, some students feeling very left out in class and walking out crying, and just a very unprofesional, and unfriendly environment. My daughter was not progressing and I found I had to teach her most things myself, as I am an ex dancer myself. I finally took her else where and I couldn't be happier watching my daughter progress as a dancer and actually be taught properly in a safe, friendly and inclusive environment. I dont reccomend this dance school at all.
