National Goju Karate

Best dojo in brisbane, period. I have been training with Shihan Jamie (7th degree black belt) since 2021. When i moved to brisbane in 2017, went to 4 different dojos and either felt not appreciated, not welcome, even worse, viewed as a walking dollar signs. Lost hope on finding similar dojo like the one i was originally trained in Rocky. Everyone was very welcoming, great atmosphere and many experienced black belts (often times more black belts than coloured belts), which goes to show how loyal everyone is when it comes to karate. It’s not a sport or martial arts, but a sense of belonging, everyone treat each other like family and with upmost respect.

A dojo demonstrating its worth and standing the test of time. Have been affiliated and training here for some time now. Shihan James is well known within and outside of the world of karate, and for good reason. A wealth of knowledge which he’s shared and taught many of his students and black belts. If you’re after training without the fluff and good people / environment, NGK is you’re next stop.

This place is amazing. The atmosphere and environment is phenomenal, the teachers are incredible at what they do, Shihan Jamie is the everything you’d need and want in a teacher. His energy is empowering and you feel it when you walk in the dojo. Have been training here for almost 3 years and never looked back. Great karate classes for kids and adults ! My kids have been going for 2 years. Shihan is very passionate about teaching and keeps kids in discipline during the class. All the masters in the classes are highly trained and teach kids because of passion for karate. Love the energy of the place !!

A high level of understanding and knowledge of karate from all the senior black belts. An enviroment that is always encouraging and pushing you as an individual to improve. I have made new friends and my fitness and flexibility has improved dramatically.
