NumberWorks'nWords was our second attempt at finding the right tutoring support for my daughter, who had been struggling with reading at a Year 1 level. What I appreciate most is that, unlike the private tutor we first tried, I don’t need to know exactly how to describe the problem - Gene’s assessment process identifies it quickly and accurately. Their standardised testing pinpoints where a child is having difficulty, and the team then tackles those areas from multiple angles. The feedback is frequent, enthusiastic, and honest, always framed around clear expectations for a child’s age and year level. Even better, not only has my daughter's reading and confidence in the classroom improved dramatically, but she absolutely loves going, which has made the experience so positive for all of us. I’ve since enrolled my Year 5 son as well—not for remedial help, but for extension. Despite being in advanced maths groups for the past five years, he still had a few gaps from working with older students or jumping ahead without the right foundational support. Gene and his team have made him feel completely at ease - celebrating his strengths, identifying the gaps, and creating a plan that will help him thrive as he heads into high school. I highly recommend NumberWorks’nWords Eastgardens. From the very first assessment, I was feeling stressed and overwhelmed, but Gene made me feel calm and reassured. He clearly explained where my son needed support and how they would help him. My son now attends once a week and the progress has been incredible—what a difference! Our daughter had a free assessment done at the start of the year. Gene took the time to explain the gaps in her learning after the session, which made me understand her needs to support her in year 2. We enrolled her for her Maths and English tuition - it has not even been the full term and we have already seen her confidence blossom. She went from not being able to solve addition questions quickly to saying ‘Maths is my favourite subject’ after 4 weeks - that really says how much she’s enjoying her learning now with the additional support from Gene and his team that we probably can’t provide effectively at home. Highly recommend!
