I have been going to the Queensland Theatre productions forever, and much more regularly in recent years. This year I took out a 6 Play Subscription and as with plays in previous years, the three productions I have already seen - Pride & Prejudice, Calamity Jane, and Rhinestone Rex and Miss Monica - were fantastic. Tonight’s play, Dear Son, in the Bille Brown Theatre - a fantastic space, with great sight lines from just about every seat - was a very different type of production and again, it was wonderful in a completely different way. A powerful thought provoking play with powerful performances from the five actors, and brilliant staging. I always enjoy the great atmosphere and setting of the QTC, with its fairy light lit courtyard and convivial indoor bar space, and there is a great selection of drinks, and a tasty limited food menu. The QTC Team are unfailingly friendly and professional, and tonight I particularly appreciated the special assistance of Bec at the Box Office. Thanks so much Bec! Seats were perfect 💯 Every year I love the variety of QTC productions, the Play Briefings, (chaired by the very engaging Artistic Director, Daniel Evans) along with the Q&A Performances with the Cast and Creatives. I always try and book my tickets for that night. So proud of QTC, and look forward to attending many more performances and play briefings in the Bille Brown Theatre or at The Playhouse at QPAC. Congratulations and thank you to Criena (Criena Gehrke Chief Executive), Daniel and every one of the team. Please keep up the great work 🎭
Love Billie Brown theatre - intimate space, functional stage, easy to get there, nice cafe & bar. Saw Calamity Jane & great show & ensemble. Well presented in such a small space. Cast mixed well, up to date local humour, great singing & just a great night. Found the cast in the bar immediately after, 'celebrating' with a song or 3, some dancing & generally having a good time. Great night out.
This place has a rich history and is an integral part of Brisbane culture. The theatre is amazing and to see all the effort that goes into set carpentry, writing, casting, wardrobe and preparation, really adds to how special theatre really is. The team that run this place do a great matinee. The bar food is great and the staff do a wonderful job when it's busy.
A heartwarming and hilarious gem! Lucky to have attended Queensland Theatres opening night ofRhinestone Rex and Miss Monica. An absolute delight from start to finish! The chemistry between the two leads is electric—funny, touching, and so genuine that you can’t help but fall in love with their journey. Many laugh out loud moments, the script is sharp, witty, and full of charm.. Loved the set design and lighting- felt like you were looking in on their intimate storytelling, drawing you right into their quirky little world. Do yourself a favor and buy tickets while they last because this show is a must-see. It’s a story about second chances, unexpected connections, and the love of music—with so much humor and heart, you'll leave wishing it hadn't ended. Lisa
Excellent service from the staff, friendly and welcoming. The venue has been thoughtfully designed to be comfortable and pleasant, spacious also interesting in itself. A marvelous location to enjoy live play acting. Close by free parking after 7pm is a welcome bonus.
