The QUT Aquatic Centre has friendly lifeguards and I liked the clean indoor pool and toilets. If you want to borrow a kickboard, you can. I recommend bringing a cap and goggles. This is one of my favourite pools in Brisbane.
The facilities are okay but the hygiene standards of the gym are kind of shocking. There are no wet wipes, only toilet paper and a detergent spray bottle that is filled with water. Genuinely disturbing. Also the opening times are very inconvenient but that’s a different story
I visited the QUT pool today with a friend. The facility closes at 8:00 pm and we were fully aware of the closing time. However, well before 8:00 pm, a female lifeguard repeatedly urged us to leave even though we were already in the changing room getting dressed and drying our hair. What made the situation particularly uncomfortable was that the lifeguard kept the changing room door open and stood nearby watching us while we were changing. This felt like an unnecessary invasion of privacy. We completely understand that staff need to ensure the facility closes on time, but guests should still be allowed to change and leave in a respectful and private environment. When we left the facility, it was only around 8:02 pm, which suggests we had already exited the pool area right at closing time. The staff member appeared visibly irritated, with dismissive body language and loud banging while we were leaving. A polite reminder about closing time would have been perfectly reasonable, but the way this situation was handled felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. I hope management can remind staff to respect guests’ privacy and communicate more respectfully during closing time.
I had a very disappointing experience at the QUT swimming pool today. The staff member working at the front desk was also acting as the lifeguard, and her attitude was extremely rude and unprofessional. Instead of providing assistance, this person spoke to us in a very disrespectful manner. As visitors to a university facility, we expected basic courtesy and professionalism, but the way we were treated made the environment feel very uncomfortable. It is concerning that someone responsible for both reception and safety behaved in such an aggressive way. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves staff training and customer service.
The gym and swimming pool are average, but the cancellation process is unnecessarily difficult, as other reviews have mentioned and confirmed. According to Australian consumer law, they should provide a refund in the same form as the original payment. However, they insisted on doing it their own way, requiring a bank statement that includes all original transaction details — name, account number, BSB, etc. — due to their outdated system and processes. Reduced the rating to one. Very unprofessional—highly doubt this business would survive without a monopoly in a prime location
