The dance classes at Rio Rhythmics are of a high standard, plus … they’re actually fun. Perfect for absolute beginners who have never danced before. As well as for those who have prior experience and want to pick it up again. The advanced classes take you to a polished level and something to aspire to ! The teachers are inviting and relaxed, approachable and very friendly. Highly recommended for fitness, socialising or both. I’ve been doing this for years - no other activity has this much fun and satisfaction!

I can’t recommend Rio Rhythmics highly enough. I started in January with no dance experience at all and have just completed the 10 week beginner course, where I got to try most of the styles they teach. I’m now in week 3 of Level 2 and the progress I’ve made in such a short time honestly amazes me. Coming to class has truly become the highlight of my week. What makes this studio so special isn’t just the quality of teaching, but the people. The instructors are incredibly passionate and genuinely care about their students, not just improving as dancers, but enjoying themselves along the way. There’s a strong focus on connection and creating a fun, supportive environment rather than just getting the steps right. The community is amazing, so welcoming, friendly and encouraging. I’ve met some wonderful people and have made dance friends for life. As someone with a disability, I was a little nervous when I first reached out. My very first interaction was calling to ask if I could dance in socks, as it’s better for my condition. I still remember Tarcisio immediately saying 'of course' and that whatever makes me comfortable is completely fine. That kindness really stayed with me. Since then, the studio has been more than accommodating. The instructors are so thoughtful, some even remember my situation and check in during class to make sure I’m okay. That level of care means more than I can put into words. Rio Rhythmics isn’t just a dance studio, it’s a genuinely welcoming, supportive community and I feel so lucky to be part of it.

I started at the academy as a side quest, and it has become a core element of my current journey 😀 I would recommend it!

I’ve attended beginner courses at a couple of other dance schools, but the difference at Rio Rhythmics is in the detail. Their 10-week beginner course is intensive and goes far beyond just learning steps. Even though I already had some basics down, the way they break down the mechanics — explaining the why and how behind each movement — has been a game-changer. You don’t just copy steps, you actually understand what you’re doing and how to do it well. It’s clear why this school has been running successfully for 35 years. If you want real foundations in Latin dance, this is the place to start.

I attended salsa classes for around 18 months and overall I really enjoyed the actual lessons. Johan and Molly are excellent teachers - skilled, funny and clearly passionate about what they do. I learned a lot from them and genuinely enjoyed dancing there. However, I ultimately decided to leave because I found the social environment very difficult. In my experience, the community felt quite cliquey and already very established socially. As someone who came alone and was already stepping way outside my comfort zone, I often felt invisible both in classes and especially at social events. A few people were friendly, but overall I rarely felt included or welcomed into conversations or the wider community. I understand many people there already knew each other well and this may not bother everyone, but for someone who is ADHD/ autistic or attending alone, it could feel quite isolating. By the end, the social side was causing me a lot of anxiety, which was sad because I truly did enjoy the dancing itself…
