I gym shopped all over and was a member at two other gyms before landing here. Easily the best. The 360 degrees bay views get you in the door, but it’s everything else that makes you stay. The gym team all have great energy, relaxed but professional and passionate and the members community is a mix of ages and fitness levels. The class schedule is stacked, always something to match my mood. I’m a 5 times a week Pilates girlie and there are so many quality instructors, who are all clear, engaging, passionate and prepared - I’ve genuinely never had a wasted class. No matter your style, there’s someone to love training with. The new reformer studio has made it an even better space to be in. There’s always something going on with activations and rooftop sessions and you can tell how much thought and effort goes into making them feel fresh, current and fun. No pressure, dip into what you like. The effort and care the team of the team really shows. It’s consistently clean, welcoming, and just has a great energy. It makes it easy to show up - this place sets the standard.
The one off roof top Zumba class Wednesday night was fabulous. Such enthusiastic instructors with the 70 plus participants. Beautiful close views of the beach and also city views. Trust this class can be repeated.
Its grotty in the pool. Alot of black mould (if that's what it is) in the tile grout. The swimming lanes aren't marked on the floor of the pool which is a huge problem given people share lanes. The pool is 25m so lots of turning. There is a large spa pool but its never quite hot enough. The changing rooms are old now, the showers temperatures fluctuate. The new streamroom is a bit slippery and doesn't heat very well or evenly. You can get out the back for a dip in the bay which is cold but fun, the location down by the bay is lovely and it's bright. The water is not sea water, its just chlorinated and has salt. The bags and drums are in the corner. The cost to enter is low, $11 for seniors. Its good value. So, its fine.
The location & facility is excellent. Unfortunately the service hasn't matched. Aside for one or two positive interactions we've mostly felt ignored. Minimal engagement & staff playing rugby at the entrance. We left our number to discuss joining and nobody followed up. We have joined elsewhere. It feels like theres a fairly obvious problem around respect that should be addressed.
Don't expect to be able to swim laps on Wednesdays or Thursday's after work. They often book too many swim school lessons than the pool can accommodate, leaving only a single lane to swim laps. Management doesn't seem to think this is an issue and they're happy to take your membership fees every week regardless. Pretty dodgy.
