Taketani Judo Academy

I contacted the owner, Nao, a few weeks before coming to Australia to ask if I could join a training session. He kindly said he would be happy to welcome me and even offered to lend me one of his judogis. I attended the Thursday randori session and had a truly enriching experience. It was very interesting to see how training is done here. Nao places a strong emphasis on fundamentals, which was perfect for me as somewhat of a beginner. Everyone made me feel very welcome and was incredibly friendly. At the end of the session, Nao asked me to pose for a group photo with the class, then surprised me by giving me a t-shirt and a plushie. I was genuinely touched by the gesture! A huge thank you to Nao and everyone at the dojo for such a warm welcome and a memorable experience.

My kids have been here since 2022 so TJA has become the most important environment outside of home or school. Whether its for martial arts, sporting competition or character development

By far the best Judo academy in Victoria, exceptionally run by Nao and his highly trained team at their impressive dojo in Huntingdale. Despite being new to judo, we were embraced by the Taketani family from day 1. Our daughter has excelled in the professional, nurturing environment, developing not only judo skills, but also self-belief, confidence and resilience.

I did two trial classes and really enjoyed it. The teachers and other black belts there were great! I went with BJJ as it felt easier on my 37 year old body. Otherwise would have commited to Taketani dojo. Special thanks to Kasumi, Sunny and Pete.
