The Society Academy

I attended my very first dance class at The Society Academy: An Absolute Beginners session on Tuesday night, and it was such a fun experience. At 57, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I genuinely had a great time. My son joined me too, as he’s always wanted to try dance, and it made the experience even more special. The instructor was fantastic, skilled, professional, and easy to follow. The steps were clearly explained, and the energy in the room was really motivating. It’s also a great way to boost your fitness while having fun. That said, I did find the pace a bit challenging for my arthritic knees. While the rest of me was happily grooving, my knees struggled to keep up with the faster movements. I noticed most participants seemed to be in the 18–35 age range, so it would be wonderful if the academy could consider offering a low-impact class tailored for those of us 50+. Especially for people who grew up in the ’80s and early ’90s and are looking for something fun (but not line dancing, ballroom, Zumba, or Latin styles). Overall, it’s a great dance school with talented instructors and a welcoming atmosphere. I’d absolutely recommend it. Just be mindful of the pace if you have joint concerns like I do!

I have nothing but good words to say about The Society Academy. The faculty or staff members on rotation for open classes are some of the most wonderful and inspiring dancers that you will ever meet. Choreography and technical training is consistently at the highest standard and for all levels and styles available. No competition is ever within the studio, the dancers and crews always help each other out and encourage others to be the best dancers they can be. Cannot recommend this studio enough to people looking to get into the Perth dance scene!

Love love love this place! I came to society academy with zero dance experience and they have taught me how to move and how to dance! They have many classes throughout the week catering to all levels of dancers from beginners to advance. Great music, great workout and great community!

The best vibes for beginner dancers. I always invite my friends to Una's Beginners class and watch them leave smiling and full of energy. Society is an wholesome, friendly and welcoming place to be if you want to start your dance journey!
