Universal Dance and Performance

My kids have been here since the very first when it was in a hall. Obviously I am ambivalent about dance and have my personal biases :: That being said the team here teach the kids and wife love this place. For me my kids are happy and turn up regularly That says something Though what led me to write this review is watching the owner’s Mum sitting with the girls as they wait for their parents to pick them up. Watching the owner or Mum wait out the door letting each kid to the appropriate car parent for pick up. When the owners cares for the safety of their charges that much - you got to live that place Thumbs up from Ray !

My daughters have been attending Universal Dance and Performance for two years. We love the studio, Jaclyn is amazing and has a real care for all of her students. The vibe is professional yet relaxed and there is a lovely community feel. My daughters come out happy and energised and have met wonderful friends throughout their time at universal dance. Highly recommend

My daughter started dancing at UDP this year. The teachers are incredible, I booked her in to get her ready for kindy next year so she can gain more independence. She is a very anxious child and was a little scared to go in but it’s incredible to see the difference and excitement she gets when it’s “dancing time.” I love that the teachers are very honest about her participation (she sometimes takes a little bit of encouragement to join in with the dances). She always comes out with a huge smile and puts on a performance for us in the afternoon. The only negative thing would be trying to get her out of her dancing uniform after class 😂

Thankyou so much to the Universal Dance Studio team- you are all fabulous!! I booked the birthday party package and it is such amazing value- they entertain, provide all the catering (except cake), tableware, decorations and party bags! No cleaning up after - sooo super easy! Kids had an absolute blast from start to finish with great games and the perfect party atmosphere. AMAZING!

We went to a trial class and we left very disappointed and sad. We understand the policy of the studio is that the kids dance independently and the parents wait outside. The website advertises that there is a camera and you can watch them on a TV from the outside but it wasn't working. As it was the 1st time and my kid was anxious I asked if I could stay inside for 5 minutes and also because I wanted to see the type of activities that they do. Very politely they asked me to leave as 'my presence could disrupt the class and it was best for the kids not to see me'. I left but I saw there was a window from the outside from where I could have a pick of what my child was doing without her seeing me. The teacher saw me, I kindly smiled at her but surprisingly she seemed very annoyed and they shut the curtain close at my face. I found that very disrespectful, without telling me anything (if they were concerned about someone looking they could have easily come outside and check). Afterwards they said it could have been any stranger and that they did this for the safety of the kids (of course they played the 'safety' card) but I know they knew it was me. I am not sure what they want to hide in those clases as it is clearly not for the kids because they couldn't see me from the inside. This makes me feel uncomfortable and I prefer a place where there is more transparency regarding what kids do in the class (either letting you in for a while or video or mirror screen where they don't see you, etc). Before this, I did a trial at Ready Set Dance in Osborne Park and the experience was totally different. They allowed some parents to join the kids during the 1st trial class so they kids wouldn't feel anxious and to see what they did and there was also a video stream that you could watch from the waiting room. Como location was more convenient for me and therefore I tried it, thinking it would be the same, but there is a big difference even both being from the same 'brand'!
